I will/could never be a supreme court justice

Didn't go to law school, for one.
That's actually the biggest set back.
Yes, my past is a little tainted. I was shot at, in knife fights, run over by a car and the wonderful stories that go with all of that make me a colorful character.  The dredging up the witnesses to these events and their stories would make an amazing mini series. But we will save that for later
I've been trying to bridge my life as it was to my life now and how I see things. The last blog was about restaurant management and I wanted to put that to bed, at least for a time. The political arena is where my focus is. And as always, (read the disclaimer carefully) I do little to no research at all. I do consume information. And I'm very good with numbers.
The numbers will help me make the leap from where I was to where I am going with my opinions .
Many items on the menu at your favorite restaurant are signature items. How they built the company. Then new favorites come and go much to our delight or dismay. You may have like a particular dish and find it suddenly gone. Why? It didn't sell. That simple. Well...not really. Sometimes the tastebuds and demographics shift and a change is needed to reach a new base. Sometimes it was something that sold well in a test for a limited time because it was new and exciting. But how do entrees on a menu have anything to do with politics?
The mainstay, unchanging, signature item of our political menu would be the constitution, the bill of rights. Unwavering, unchanging like the wings at my new restaurant.  Sure we add some new flavors and take away some old ones but the wings are still the same.
My last job, the P word, the omelettes were largely the same in the 30 years but there were some changes. Let's call these amendments. Changes that were necessary at the time and were well received by the general populus.
The world, our country, as we know it is changing, evolving with the introduction of more technology and different ways of life, flavors. We should keep our signature items on the menu,  the things that made the company or country great but we do need to change up some of the slow moving, unpopular, or ineffective choices.
I know I said I am a numbers guy and I promise to share how the numbers fit in. Next time.
